AZAD yani FREEDOM

With this collection I wanted to reimagine traditional Kurdish jewelry that I have seen my entire life through my mother, grandmother, aunts, their friends. I wanted to add a new layer to these beautiful pieces I always loved looking at. These large pendants were sourced on my trip to southern Kurdistan last summer (2023) and I chose to shorten the length to make them more versatile for daily wear. I also wanted them to speak for themselves and shed more light on Jin Jiyan Azad and the resistance and fight against oppression worldwide.

Yellow pendant sourced in Kurdistan, gold plated old English AZAD, black and white Tibetan beading, 15inch chain, gold plated stainless steel findings.

Fuchsia round pendant sourced in Kurdistan, gold plated azadi lettering, fuchsia glass beads in two sizes, 17inch chain, gold plated stainless steel findings, red vintage set stones.

Handmade with love, care and intention between 2023 and 2024. Most materials were sourced on a trip back to my homeland, Kurdistan during the summer of 2023, and the collection is inspired by the power and beauty of homeland.
